Home Maintenance Tips for May

Home Maintenance Reminders for May

  • May is the perfect time to get your HVAC system serviced. After all this might be the only month it has off between heating and cooling. Also be sure to change your filter monthly.  If you need a good HVAC tech give us a call.
  • Clear out your dryer vent. Clogged dryer vents pose an oft overlooked fire hazard, and they also decrease drying times. You can probably do this yourself with a vacuum. You’ll be amazed at the difference it can make.
  •  Flush your water heater. Mineral build up can lower capacity and eventually damage your tank. You should be doing this once a year. If you neglect this job too long the sediment can harden.

*While you’re at it, be sure you have carbon monoxide detectors plugged in near any gas appliances including water heaters, furnaces, dryers and fireplaces.

Spring Cleaning for Decks, Fences, Sidewalks and More

Springtime’s nearly upon us. Time to start enjoying your outdoor space. But before you fire up the grill take a moment to walk-around and survey the condition of your exteriors:

Is that wood looking weathered?
Has your paint started to peel?
Are those iron fences getting rusty?

Early spring is the perfect time to schedule routine maintenance for your deck, fences, stairs and sidewalks. Wooden decks and stairs should be professionally pressure washed and stained approximately every two or three years to protect the longevity of the wood. But even if it’s been much longer than that don’t be shy, give us a call. You’ll be amazed at the dramatic difference. Read more
