Ipe Decking with Built-In Planters in West Town

We just finished this beautiful deck rebuild for a homeowner who wanted to incorporate built-in planters into the flow of the deck itself. This stunning deck features gorgeous Ipe (pronounced eep-eh) decking. Ipe is a sustainably planted tropical hardwood with a lifespan of up to seventy-five years. Due to Ipe’s unusually dense grain it’s also more mold and fire resistant than other woods used for decking. It also has a deep, rice hue that if left untreated will age over the years to a beautiful silver grey. We completed the project with new siding and a sliding glass patio door.

Accessible Bathroom in Hoffman Estates

After her husband suffered a stroke, Donna needed help. She had been using a transfer bench to get her husband in and out of the bathtub which she found difficult and scary. So she had us take the tub out and put in a shower with just a small lip and shower walls that go all the way to the ceiling (which she loves!). We also replaced the sink, counter top, and toilet so that it is now accessible for her husband.

In Donna’s words, the most important part of the project was that:  “The guys really cared. It was a hard time for me and they were so accommodating. They would have done anything for me. They would have gone to the Jewel!”

Dan knew exactly what he wanted for his outdoor entertainment space. He described his plan to us including a pergola, a monster Weber grill, a 52 inch TV and multiple seating areas. We also built a steel walkway so that he could access it from his second floor office to chill out during the work day. Dan loved having a flexible space where he could throw a cool party one day and relax with a glass of wine at the end of the next.

Ravenswood Remodel

Major townhouse renovation in Ravenswood

We had so much fun working on Matt’s house. There were lots of opportunities for our designer to listen to what the customer wanted and share his own ideas. Matt was very clear on what he wanted functionally but really needed help with the design aspects to pull the whole look together. That’s the kind of work that we love to do. While this wasn’t a gut rehab, it was a total transformation of a beat up townhouse into a beautiful home. In addition to the kitchen and bathroom renovations, we created a mantle at the fireplace with a stone surround, added some cool tile in the entryway and upgraded window treatments throughout. All the floors were improved – we added new carpet on the stairs, sanded and stained the existing hardwood floors on the first level and added hardwood floors throughout the third level. We also added shelves to the linen closet and created an awesome custom closet organization system in the master.
